The former whaling town and earlier capital of the Hawaiian kingdom is now a favorite of the many tourists who frequent this charming town every year. The quaint mystique of Front Street is a wonderful mix of shops, restaurants and old-time Hawaiian charm that enthralls countless guests annually. The old Banyan Court Park in front of the harbor area frequently hosts weekend offerings from vendors of arts and crafts, often accompanied by live music from local artists. The whale watching expeditions that leave from the harbor during whale season are exciting and among the best to be found anywhere. Many of the restaurants along the oceanside sit right out on or even over the water. Mick Fleetwood’s signature restaurant, Fleetwood’s on Front Street, is in a prime centerpiece location of this famed walkway.
